Bad Day and Rediculously Cute Birthday Present

Thursday was a very hard day for June and mommy. We went to a dermatologist because June has these little bumps all over her side and forearm. They are molluscum which is caused by a virus and she has had them for quite some time, but recently they started to spread. June walked in very nervous knowing we were at the doctor and carried one of the mylar balloons from Shelby’s birthday with her and her blankie over her head. Everyone thought it was her birthday, but I told them it wasn’t but that she had slept with that balloon floating two feet above her head and basicly hadn’t let go of it for 48 hours. She likes balloons…what can I say, and if she wanted to carry it in, I wasn’t going to pick that battle. The doctor pulled down her pants to examine her legs and surprise NO DIAPER! I asked her where is was and she said “It’s ok mommie, I took it off, it’s at home” (June loves to be naked) I put a diaper on her so they could look at all her bumps without the moon shining.   The doctor told me that we could put a strong liquid on them at home that would cause painful blisters that will pop and leave painful sores OR they could “flick” them off. This actually meant that they would use a tiny razor to CUT each one off WHILE she was awake and strapped to a padded board. The doctor said it wasn’t very painful and was the option that she recommended. This was the HARDEST decision to make, but I didn’t want June to have to deal with 30-40 blisters all over her. She was very upset about being restrained, but she was very happy afterwards when we went to get ice cream with 5 different toppings, a happy meal, and tons of suckers and balloons.  We said a repeat after me prayer for Jesus to make her brave and help it not to hurt before the doctor came back to do the treatment and later that night June said, “Mommy, Jesus loves me. Jesus saved me at the doctor” It melted my heart!  When we were walking out I said, “We are all done Junie, it’s time to go!” and she  said, “Thank you Jesus!” There must be no sweeter sound for Jesus that to hear His child calling His name. She also told me that she saw Jesus in a pot of flowers next to a bug. Not sure what she meant by that, but she likes to talk about Jesus alot.

Yesterday Jimmy went fishing with Joseph and went by the Rawson’s to pick up a gift that Emily had made Shelby for her birthday. I was shocked when he brought it in and moved to tears! This is the sweetest gift EVER!!! She made a Noah’s Ark basket with hand knitted animals and a Noah!! I mean seriously, it is the cutest thing I have ever seen that I did not give birth to!! I LOVE this gift.

Shelby opened it this morning and LOVED it. I purposely put her in her rainbow tights to go with the rainbow ribbon which represents God’s promise in the rainbow! I look forward to teaching Shelby and June about Noah’s Ark and particularly the lesson of obedience. Noah was obedient to God and that is the most important lesson I can teach my children if there is anything I leave impressed in their hearts as they grow up! Happiness is fleeting, but true obedience to God will lead them to contentment in life, no matter what their circumstances are.

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
