My Birthday

Tuesday was my birthday. I got these beautiful flowers from Missy “THANK YOU MISSY!! I actually had a horrible day on my birthday. I was so busy I didn’t get to eat lunch or dinner and I got pulled over on top of that. These flowers really made my day! Also, I got lots of sweet messages on facebook, which was very very cool.

Yesterday we went to visit Nanny at her work. It was her last day working at the Monogram Shop. She got a new job which she will be starting on Tuesday. It is a huge blessing because she will have insurance for her and Dad! Thank you Lord for this blessing and please give her the strength to get up super early and drive downtown everyday. I Love you SOOOO much, Mom!! We  are so proud of you for finding this awesome job!!

June has this little decrepid old stuffed tiger that she has been carrying around all the time. She threw him out the window the other day when I was driving!

She was actually holding his tail while dangling him out the window when I took this. I didn’t realize it at the time I took the photo. It was fun pulling him out of a muddy gutter later. I will remember to take favorite toys away from the girls before rolling down windows.

Today we spent a good deal of the morning outside. June LOVES riding her tricycle and rode it up and down the street about 900 times. These are her Nemo shoes she got from Aunt Sara that she wears every day. She insists on wearing them. I own zero orange outfits for her that match, so they are definitely a fashion statement!

She is SO proud of herself that she knows how to pedal all by herself now.

Winter Beach trip

These pictures I just wanted to post because they were cute and I LOVE them! Daniel, one of my students, came over Friday night and took these pics in the studio of June!  I am teaching him photography and photoshop! juniebasket punkingirl

Saturday morning we drove down to the beach to spend the weekend at Grammy and Pa’s beach House. It was relaxing and I got alot of editing work done. June still cries whenever I try to pose the two of them for a photo.

She got pretty happy when I asked her if she wanted to fly her new kite that she had been carrying around all day with sad puppy eyes asking anyone who would listen to please open it for her.

IMG_6545 IMG_6552

It was really windy and Grammy and Pa have a HUGE feild next to the house that is PERFECT for kites!! That is their house in the background.

The special thing about this day was that not only was it the first time for the girls to fly a kite, but JIMMY TOO!!  He had never flown a kite before!!

Pure joy and delight!!

Shelby just ran around all over the field the whole time giggling and eating palm leaves, dirt ,and rocks.

Look at June’s expression. Its like she’s thinking ,” Are you REALLY gonna eat that?!”

Shelby is so little and it never gets less cute watching her walk around now. It is just so strange seeing this tiny girl walking around like a little person!!

Data Loss

The past two weeks have been a world wind of stress. It seems like everything all came down at once. Two Fridays ago I was in the middle of editing photos when i heard a clicking noise. It was the click of death. My external hard drive crashed. I mean, it really died. I was overwhelmed with panic. Data recovery costs upwards of $1600!! I was literally on the ground crying and kicking!IMG_6309

Not unlike what Shelby does at least twice a day when she doesn’t get her way.

I had HOURS of editing that was being stored on this machine that cannot be replaced. People’s irreplaceable memories were at hand…that had been trusted in my hands. It was painful. Most of my stuff is backed up on my other computer and other external hard drive. However, some things had been corrupted on the other drive due to a worm in my computer. UUGGGH  Then in the midst of all this and waiting to hear back from the data recovery technician, I got the flu and a nasty infection in my throat.  These were my little friends.IMG_6344

Monday I got the call. The hard drive was completely gone. No data could be recovered. I had to make some hard phone calls and I have not taken any pictures in two weeks with my tail between my legs in shame. In conclusion…if you own an external hard drive and it is one of the “desktop” kind that are a little bigger….do not move that thing at all. The pieces inside move and the pen is made of glass and can be shattered from falling just from upright to on its side on a PILLOW. The magnets are so strong that if it gets off kilter, it will essentially destroy itself!

DO NOT BUY SEAGATE!  ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!

This terabyte drive of mine never fell, and was only ONE MONTH OLD!!! If you get an external hard drive, buy one of the little portable ones. They are MUCH more sturdy and the parts are more durable! Lesson learned…data backed now, and backed again, and again.

Shelby is walking now which is pretty cute. She loves walking around with my cell phone pressed against her ear while she speaks gibberish!

June really likes play dough. She could sit in her chair for an hour or more perfectly happy with a can of play dough and a few spoons and cookie cutters. We we are going to make some Valentines salt dough sculptures this weekend!

I am so happy that my babies and husband didn’t get sick. I am also thankful for my dad who helped me out so much and even brought me food when I was sick. Also I appreciate James Hicks who is a computer genius.

Bad Day and Rediculously Cute Birthday Present

Thursday was a very hard day for June and mommy. We went to a dermatologist because June has these little bumps all over her side and forearm. They are molluscum which is caused by a virus and she has had them for quite some time, but recently they started to spread. June walked in very nervous knowing we were at the doctor and carried one of the mylar balloons from Shelby’s birthday with her and her blankie over her head. Everyone thought it was her birthday, but I told them it wasn’t but that she had slept with that balloon floating two feet above her head and basicly hadn’t let go of it for 48 hours. She likes balloons…what can I say, and if she wanted to carry it in, I wasn’t going to pick that battle. The doctor pulled down her pants to examine her legs and surprise NO DIAPER! I asked her where is was and she said “It’s ok mommie, I took it off, it’s at home” (June loves to be naked) I put a diaper on her so they could look at all her bumps without the moon shining.   The doctor told me that we could put a strong liquid on them at home that would cause painful blisters that will pop and leave painful sores OR they could “flick” them off. This actually meant that they would use a tiny razor to CUT each one off WHILE she was awake and strapped to a padded board. The doctor said it wasn’t very painful and was the option that she recommended. This was the HARDEST decision to make, but I didn’t want June to have to deal with 30-40 blisters all over her. She was very upset about being restrained, but she was very happy afterwards when we went to get ice cream with 5 different toppings, a happy meal, and tons of suckers and balloons.  We said a repeat after me prayer for Jesus to make her brave and help it not to hurt before the doctor came back to do the treatment and later that night June said, “Mommy, Jesus loves me. Jesus saved me at the doctor” It melted my heart!  When we were walking out I said, “We are all done Junie, it’s time to go!” and she  said, “Thank you Jesus!” There must be no sweeter sound for Jesus that to hear His child calling His name. She also told me that she saw Jesus in a pot of flowers next to a bug. Not sure what she meant by that, but she likes to talk about Jesus alot.

Yesterday Jimmy went fishing with Joseph and went by the Rawson’s to pick up a gift that Emily had made Shelby for her birthday. I was shocked when he brought it in and moved to tears! This is the sweetest gift EVER!!! She made a Noah’s Ark basket with hand knitted animals and a Noah!! I mean seriously, it is the cutest thing I have ever seen that I did not give birth to!! I LOVE this gift.

Shelby opened it this morning and LOVED it. I purposely put her in her rainbow tights to go with the rainbow ribbon which represents God’s promise in the rainbow! I look forward to teaching Shelby and June about Noah’s Ark and particularly the lesson of obedience. Noah was obedient to God and that is the most important lesson I can teach my children if there is anything I leave impressed in their hearts as they grow up! Happiness is fleeting, but true obedience to God will lead them to contentment in life, no matter what their circumstances are.

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
